ABOUT KATE

I’m a teaching artist, songwriter, composer, multi-instrumentalist, and performer with nearly two decades of experience helping students discover—and develop—their own musical voices. I teach piano and guitar through engaging, student-centered lessons that combine strong musical foundations with creativity, curiosity, and plenty of room for self-expression.

When I’m not teaching, I’m usually making music. I’ve performed and recorded as a vocalist, keyboardist, guitarist, bassist, and percussionist across rock & roll, jazz, avant-rock, and theater projects. My original compositions have appeared on numerous albums and in theatrical productions, and my life as a working musician keeps my teaching fresh, practical, and connected to the real world of music-making.

I’m also a lifelong student of music. My journey has taken me from ethnomusicology studies in Ghana to classical piano studies in Hungary, along with earning a minor in Music from the University of North Texas. I bring all of those experiences into my lessons, helping students of all ages build confidence, strengthen their skills, explore their creativity, and develop a connection to music that lasts well beyond the lesson.
